Meet Our Team

Laura Hook

Veterinarian

Laura graduated from the University of Queensland in 2004 with a degree in Veterinary Science. After graduating, she spent the following year completing an internship in small animal medicine at the University of Queensland Veterinary Teaching Hospital before returning home to Melbourne. Laura previously worked for many years in two leading veterinary practices in Melbourne and has completed a year long course in oncology (cancer medicine). She enjoys attending conferences and seminars to keep up to date with the latest treatment advances to benefit her patients. Laura has a special interest in canine and feline internal medicine cases and really enjoys the opportunity to get to know clients and their pets. She enjoys the opportunity to see pets from their very first veterinary visit, getting to know them and their individual personalities, and then being able to provide care for them in older age.

Laura currently owns a young rescue pup called Charle.  He is a border collie x kelpie and keeps the family very active. Laura has 2 young children who keep her very busy and enjoys living in the local area and being involved in the community. In her limited spare time, she enjoys gardening and maintaining an ever-changing vegetable patch with the enthusiastic assistance of her kids.

Kate

Veterinary Nurse

Kate is our full time nurse at Aspendale Gardens, she brings with her a wealth of experience and a love of all creatures great and small. Kate and her husband Robbie have a variety of different pets at home including mischievous ferrets, miniature ponies, pet goats and an assortment of tropical fish. Kate has a keen interest in animal behaviour and is looking forward to getting puppy school up and running at Aspendale Gardens.

Fiona

Veterinary Nurse

Fiona has been a vet nurse for over 15 years and is very passionate about caring for animals. She is proud mum to a new Shih Tzu puppy called George.  She lost her gorgeous Shih Tzu called Gidget (nicknamed the “Hairy Ewok”) to lymphoma not so long ago.  Gidget lived with chronic skin allergies, so she sympathises with clients who have pets with ongoing skin issues and is keen to help them learn some tips and tricks to help keep their pets comfortable. Fiona has worked at several leading veterinary clinics on the peninsula. She is the friendly face you will meet when you get to the clinic.

Melanie

Veterinary Nurse

Melanie is a highly experienced vet nurse. She has been working as a vet nurse for many years. Melanie has 2 young boys who keep her busy as well as a very excitable staffy called Sky, who she rescued and has nurtured through many health issues.

Sara

Veterinary Nurse

Sara began as a trainee at the clinic and is now a very talented veterinary nurse. She is determined to become a veterinarian and is working hard towards that goal. Sara is currently studying Agriculture while working towards transfering into veterinary medicine. She is a very enthusiastic member of our team and passionate about caring for all creatures great and small. Sara has already helped look after several baby possums while awaiting foster carers. You may see Sara and her enormous puppy Winter (a Saint Bernard) and her even bigger dog Harvey (a French Mastiff cross, currently weighing in at over 60kg!) at obedience training or at the beach.

Dimiti

Veterinary Nurse

Dimiti joined the team after moving from Adelaide where she has worked as a vet nurse in a busy practice. Dimiti has a passion for helping animals with behavioural issues and a keen interest in nutrition.  She is a great source of advice for your pet's dietary needs.  Dimiti is looking forward to starting our puppy preschool shortly.  She has recently completed a continuing education program on emotional intelligence in pets and how to raise happy pets and aim to reduce stress and anxiety in our pet friends.

Dona

Dona trained as a veterinary technician in the United States and recently moved to Australia with her family. She grew up in Wisconsin and is enjoying living in Australia with her 2 boys.  She also has a beautiful staffy dog called Bobo who made the trip over from America and loves keeping active chasing balls.
