Laura Hook

Veterinarian

Laura graduated from the University of Queensland in 2004 with a degree in Veterinary Science. After graduating, she spent the following year completing an internship in small animal medicine at the University of Queensland Veterinary Teaching Hospital before returning home to Melbourne. Laura previously worked for many years in two leading veterinary practices in Melbourne and has completed a year long course in oncology (cancer medicine). She enjoys attending conferences and seminars to keep up to date with the latest treatment advances to benefit her patients. Laura has a special interest in canine and feline internal medicine cases and really enjoys the opportunity to get to know clients and their pets. She enjoys the opportunity to see pets from their very first veterinary visit, getting to know them and their individual personalities, and then being able to provide care for them in older age.

Laura currently owns a young rescue pup called Charlie (a border collie x kelpie) and 2 recently adopted rescue cats called Brooklyn and Indiana.  Laura has 2 young children who keep her very busy and enjoys living in the local area and being involved in the community. In her limited spare time, she enjoys gardening and maintaining an ever-changing vegetable patch with the enthusiastic assistance of her kids.


Helen Vanderbom

Veterinarian

Helen graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2003 and is an experienced small animal veterinarian. She enjoys both medical and surgical cases and has a strong interest in geriatric medicine and care. Helen enjoys keeping up to date with the latest advances in veterinary medicine, regularly attending seminars and conferences both in Australia and overseas.

Outside of her veterinary commitments, Helen is a passionate mountain bike rider and is regularly involved in social and competitive events. She recently enjoyed her first opportunity to ride in a mountain biking event that started on snow! Her mountain bike riding has taken her across the world for various events.


Alana Linfoot

Veterinarian

Alana joined the team in January 2020. She is a very compassionate and caring vet and always endeavours to achieve the best outcomes for her patients.  Alana studied veterinary science in Sydney before working in a mixed animal practice in Victoria for several years.

She owns 2 cats who are obsessed with food and a beautiful German Shepherd dog called Cinder.


Kate

Veterinary Nurse

Kate is our full time nurse at Aspendale Gardens, she brings with her a wealth of experience and a love of all creatures great and small. Kate and her husband Robbie have a variety of different pets at home including mischievous ferrets, miniature ponies, pet goats and an assortment of tropical fish. She has also recently adopted a rescue greyhound called Porthos. Porthos kindly volunteers as a blood donor for critically ill patients at the clinic when required. Kate has a keen interest in animal behaviour and is looking forward to getting puppy school up and running at Aspendale Gardens.


Melanie

Veterinary Nurse

Melanie is a highly experienced vet nurse. She has been working as a vet nurse for many years. Melanie has 2 young boys who keep her busy and now 2 very cheeky rescue cat brothers who give her 2 young children great emotional support.  Their names are Maynard and Pendles and yes, then whole family are all Collingwood supporters.


Sara

Veterinary Nurse

Sara began as a trainee at the clinic and is now a very talented veterinary nurse. She is determined to become a veterinarian and is working hard towards that goal. Sara is currently studying Agriculture while working towards transfering into veterinary medicine. She is a very enthusiastic member of our team and passionate about caring for all creatures great and small. Sara has already helped look after several baby possums while awaiting foster carers. You may see Sara and her enormous puppy Winter (a Saint Bernard) and her even bigger dog Harvey (a French Mastiff cross, currently weighing in at over 60kg!) at obedience training or at the beach.


Dimiti

Veterinary Nurse

Dimiti joined the team after moving from Adelaide where she has worked as a vet nurse in a busy practice. Dimiti has a passion for helping animals with behavioural issues and a keen interest in nutrition.  She is a great source of advice for your pet's dietary needs.  Dimiti loves rumning our puppy school program and enjoys sharing her knowledge with new pet owners.  She has recently completed a continuing education program on emotional intelligence in pets and how to raise happy pets and aim to reduce stress and anxiety in our pet friends.


Dona

Veterinary Nurse

Dona worked as a veterinary technician in America for several years after earning her Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology from Madison College. She moved to Australia in 2017 with her two young boys and their rescue dog Bobo. Dona's other furry family members include a Staffy cross named RJ and a naughty rescue kitten named Stache.


Kathleen

Kathleen joined the team in 2019.  She has a certificate IV in veterinary nursing and has worked for many years in small animal practice.  Kathleen has thrived in extending her nursing training and is always keen to learn new skills.  We welcome her to the team.


Aimee

Aimee started her adventures at our clinic doing a placement for her veterinary nursing studies.  We loved her positive attitude so much that we offered her a job.  Aimee enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing, and especially loves cuddling the many puppies and kittens we see.  Outside her nursing duties, Aimee has a strong creative side and enjoys being involved in amateur theatre productions on stage and behind the scenes.
